Written by Bardothren on 3/3/2018
Hello there! Perhaps you heard something along the lines of "FoS on Gunner for OMGUS vote on confirmed inno" and you're thinking in a Samuel L. Jackson voice "English, do you speak it?" Don't worry, I'm here to help you out. Put the gun away, have a seat, and I'll tell you all about the common terms you'll hear bandied about the Underground.
So, think you got a better grasp of our language? Good, because this scum's gonna NK you into next week.

- Bandwagon
[n.] The mass voting of one player without any substantial evidence; [v.] To follow along with such a mass vote. Very common on D1 lynches. "A bandwagon is forming around Sparkin." - Bussing
[v.] The act of voting for a fellow member of the mafia. This tactic is used by mafia to make themselves appear innocent. "Lycanthropy bussed jdthebud, but he got caught by the cop." - Counterclaim (CC)
[v.] To claim a role already claimed by another; [n.] A claim to a role that causes a contradiction in the list of roles. "I counterclaim Doctor, L'Belle is clearly lying!" - Finger of Suspicion (FoS)
[n.] An accusation of another player, without substantial evidence. "FoS on mew_nani for defending Nakuzami." - Game Master (GM)
[n.] The person running a game; [v.] to run a game. "Who wants to GM a vanilla game?" - Hammer
[n.] A tie-breaking, and often game-deciding vote; [v.] To cast the tie-breaking vote in a day. "Johnny, you're the hammer. Vote town and you'll never live it down." - Inno
[n.] A player who is town-sided; [adj.] town-sided "Cop confirmed that Syn is inno. - Kick
[v.] To remove a player who is inactive. The kicked player may either be removed entirely or replaced with another player, who will have the same role and information as the kicked player. "Let's not vote for Kiyo, he's going to get kicked anyways." - Lynch or Lose (LYLO)
[n.] A situation in which the town must lynch mafia, or they will lose. An example would be three town and two scum remaining. "It's LYLO now, and I'm almost certain Kitty is scum." - Mislynch and Lose (MYLO)
[n.] A situation in which if the town lynches an innocent player, they will lose. If four town and two scum remain, lynching town would make it 3-2, and the mafia kill would end the game. "Today's MYLO, I say we wait until tomorrow to vote." - Night Kill (NK)
[n.] The kill made by the mafia. "NK was on purple, but who killed Aeternum?" - Massclaim
[n.] A situation in which everybody claims a role; [v.] Claiming roles as a group. "Alright, cop's dead, time to massclaim." - Meta
[n.] Information gleaned from outside of the game that is used to clear or accuse another player. "It's metta, but ASD wasn't on last nnight so he can't be the vodo." (misspelling intentional - see Voodoo) - No Lynch (NL)
[n.] The act of lynching no one during a day phase. This happens most often either at the onset of a game, when there is no evidence to lynch and town wants to avoid a bandwagon on a power role, or at the end, in LYLO. "We have four cops and all the time in the world. Let's NL and see what they find." - Oh My God You Suck
[n.] The act of retaliating against a vote on one's person, usually in the form of voting for the offender. "OMGUS vote on Foxrally." - Power Roles (PR)
[n.] Refers to a role, town/mafia/third party aligned, that is not vanilla. There are two definitions, depending on who you ask. One definition restricts the classification of power roles to those that visit another player during the night, while the other includes non-vanilla roles without a visiting action. The latter definition is typically used in the Underground. "How many PRs do we have left?" - Random Lynch (RL)
[n.] A lynch on a player without any evidence or reasoning to back it up; [v.] to vote for someone without evidence or reason. Note: the difference between this and a bandwagon is scale. RLs are just a vote or two on a player, while a bandwagon has majority vote. "I gotta random lynch, I don't have time to read and the day's almost over." - Scum
[n.] A person who is aligned with the mafia; [adj.] mafia-aligned. "That's a scum move if I ever saw one." - Private Message (PM)
[n.] A message exchanged between two people involved in the game that is not publicly available; [v.] to send someone such a message. Generally used to give one's Night Action, or use an item, and the message is sent to the game's Game Master. It is almost always prohibited for players to exchange PMs about a game. This does not refer to a group chat, such as the one mafia or cult might share. "Remember to PM me your Night Actions or I will kick you." - Serial Killer (SK)
[n.] A third-party role that kills a player every night. "Should we really worry about SK when the mafia's about ready to win?" - Sheep
[v.] To vote the same way as someone else without offering any reasoning or contribution to the debate. Seen as anti-town, since mass sheeping makes it difficult to find scum players. "We had five people sheep yesterday, but I think CB is the most likely scum." - Hard Claim
[n.] An explicit statement regarding one's own role; [v.] To explicitly state one's role. "We had a hard-claim from Desox, but I think he was tailored." - Soft Claim
[n.] Vague implications hinting at one's role; [v.] To imply one's role. "I've been softing cop this whole game, so I can say Doof's not the cop." - Tailored
[adj.] Refers to a revealed role that was altered by the mafia-sided tailor. "Twiggy came up Fabricator when lynched, but as Mortician, I know he was a tailored Gunsmith." - Wine in Front of Me (WIFOM)
[n.] Reverse psychology, or the suggestion that as scum, you would never intentionally do something scummy. This argument is used to muddy the waters, especially late-game when a scum kills off their most vocal opponent. "I'm really sick of your WIFOM shenanigans Pecilia, I'm lynching you." - Voodoo
[n.] Refers to a mafia role that kills when another player says the word they specify. As a result, people misspell their words to avoid being killed. "Theirs vodoo, so be careful."
So, think you got a better grasp of our language? Good, because this scum's gonna NK you into next week.
