Plunderer's Plight: Treasure Trove
"Arrr, me hearties! All aboard our mighty ship The Salty Dog, we're headed for La Ensenada Oscuro, where a whole lotta treasure awaits ye scurvy scumbags..."
As the merry band make way to the Dark Cove, all seems to be going well. Spirits are high and the mirth too. As the ship enters a lagoon however, it's very apparent why this is called the Dark Cove. Black clouds surround it, growing more menacing with each knot the ship advances towards it, the entrance looking like a maw into some unknown abyss. Only the thought of all that shiny gold was keeping our adventurer's hearts from jumping out of their mouths.
The party finally alights and makes their way to the cove. Shaking. It was eerily quiet and the water especially calm, the whole place was similar right now to that of a cat ready to pounce on its prey; it was still but also seemed ready to spring at any moment.
"Ahhh, there be where our plunder is, buckle up, this ain't gunna be an easy ride hehehe!" says the self-appointed Captain, pointing at a cave. As the last adventurer enters, the land itself springs to life. The water starts picking up, roaring straight for the cave entrance. Everyone takes a plunge into the blackness below, which vividly changes into a stark gold brilliance. You've hit gold! Coins, goblets, gems and god knows what else piles mighty high in this huge room, almost making you forget about the roaring water coming from be- CRASH. Most of you manage to make it out, however a few are grabbed by the waves, pulled away from the treasure trove.
The hard part now however, is getting out. It was a long way up there and surely not everyone would make it out alive; it was time for you to start plotting, making alliances and performing betrayals to make sure that you make it out alive and also retrieve the plunder that you had now risked so much to obtain.

How to survive
This game will be based on the game of Mafia, which will involve three factions. The first faction is the "innocents" or the "uninformed majority", also simply known as The Adventurers. The Adventurers win the game once they have eliminated all members of the "mafia" faction, known as The Scallywags. The Scallywags are the "Mafia" ("informed minority") and their goal is to eliminate members of The Adventurers, until they become the majority OR fully eliminate The Heroes. The third faction is The Cutpurses, or the "third party" roles, which have their own special win conditions. Now there are a lot of different mechanics and that being implemented versus the normal Mafia game, which will be explained below.
This game will operate via four Phases: Dawn, Day, Dusk and Night. During the Night Phase, this thread is considered locked, meaning no-one can post in this thread. However the members of The Scallywags may talk in their respective Discord chat during the Night Phase. During this time, The Scallywags will decide who they want to kill during the Night Phase, and any roles who have a Night Action will be able to execute them during the Night Phase. When the Day Phase begins, the Night Actions will be resolved and you can begin discussing who should be eliminated for being a filthy Scallywag scoundrel. Things get exciting in the Day Phase, as this is when people will start voting to eliminate someone and can choose to use weapons or actions to end a Scallywag (hopefully)! Once the Day Phase ends, all the votes will be tallied and the person who has received the most votes will then be eliminated from the game, before the following Dusk Phase then begins. In the Dawn and Dusk phases, you will be able to queue any actions for the following phase, as well as speak about the game. During the Dawn Phase, some roles will still be able to use their Night Actions and also use any items gained, but noone can vote. In the Dusk Phase, you may still put in any last minute votes, however these are final, as well as queue any Night Actions for the following phase.
Day Phases will last approximately 48 hours, Night Phases will last 24 hours and Dusk/Dawn phases lasting approximately 12 hours, unless a GM or Moderator says otherwise.
Mechanics
In this game, everyone will start out as a vanilla role, meaning you have no abilities. As you are in a treasure trove after all, there are all sorts of magical artifacts, which will allow you to perhaps gain the upper hand on some of your adversaries. In order to find these items, you may [Plunder] for treasure. in doing so, you will receive an item at the beginning of the Dawn Phase, which will grant you a one-time ability. An example of this could be:
You have successfully plundered a Gun (Deputy)!. This gun can be fired at any point during the Day Phase, killing the person it is fired at. You will NOT be revealed as the shooter.
The Scallywags will not all start out straight away. There will be one Scallywag at the beginning of the game, who can then recruit up to another 2 Scallywags (participant-dependent) during the Dusk Phases. Anyone who is recruited and has a current item/ability will have that item/ability become Cursed, turning it into a mafia equivalent. Just to avoid the mafia getting accidentally murdered N0 and destroying my game, the original Scallywag is invincible N0 (but must make a recruit and CANNOT NK, otherwise you're on your own from D1).
Cutpurses will be selected at the beginning of the game and will be able to Plunder during N0, picking up their Third Party ability for the game. Cutpurses will have access to the Lucky Coin, as well as limited item access for the rest of the game.
Otherwise, phases act as normal. Scallywags will still perform a NK during the Night Phase and voting will still proceed during the Day Phase. So a TL;DR -
Dawn Phase - Certain night actions can be carried out, people can speak in the thread but cannot vote, actions can be queued for the Day Phase. Items are received during this phase.
Day Phase - It's voting time! Talk in the thread and determine who is going to be lynched that day.
Dusk Phase - People can still speak and vote, however votes are final and cannot be changed. Abilities can be queued for the Night Phase, Scallywags choose their next recruit during this phase.
Night Phase - It's killing time! Thread is locked down, Scallywags can discuss who to kill in their NK and night actions are submitted.
Rules
- Players may only have one item on their person at all times -> plundering a new one will replace their current one

- After D1, all players will be required to vote, however this can be changed throughout the day as you so desire
- The person with the most votes will be eliminated from the game, regardless of how many players have voted
- Keep it clean, keep it nice, this is a game after all!
- All forum rules apply
- NO DISCUSSING CONTENTS OF YOUR CHATS OR THE GAME OUTSIDE OF THE GAME ITSELF
- Once dead, you are allowed one final post, which will contain no information about the game. Otherwise, go away
