Welcome to the Writers' Café! I'm Bardothren, the current moderator of this home away from home. This site's purpose is to keep creative projects ongoing until such a time we can find a more permanent residence. In the meantime, please observe the following rules.
1. Follow all general Playwrite Rules and Guidelines, which can be found here.
2. No plagiarizing.
Any work posted without the permission of the original author will be deleted.
3. Everything belongs in one thread.
Do not create a new thread for every chapter or poem. For novels, short stories, or any other narrative form >1000 words, you may use one thread for that sole project. For poems or one-shots <1000 words, we ask that you group all of your own short works into one thread. This rule is in place to ensure that the forum doesn't become flooded with threads.
4. Warn your readers.
Provide proper and up-front descriptions of any themes/content that may disturb your audience. Tags include romance, swearing, character death, excessive violence, etc. The moderator reserves the right to delete stories that do not comply with this rule. In addition, these warnings DO NOT give you permission to infringe on Playwrite's general rules and guidelines. If you are uncertain whether or not your work breaks these rules, ask a moderator to review your work before posting.
5. No links to external forums.
You may not post links to other sites in lieu of posting the chapter. Providing links to other sites with the chapter is also prohibited. However, posting links to another thread on this site is acceptable given all other rules are followed.
6. The first post within a thread must contain a portion of your story.
The sole exception to this rule is having a table of contents as your first post, in which case, a first chapter must be added within 24 hours or the thread will be deleted.
7. Please make your story readable.
This means good grammar, eye-pleasing fonts, and so on. We're not English teachers - we will not be combing through your work and docking points for every mistake we find, but we do ask that you put some effort into your grammar.
8. Be constructive.
Do not attack the writer directly. It is perfectly acceptable to point out a story's flaws, but be civil and courteous. Likewise, it is the job of the writer to accept constructive criticism and not attack any members for pointing out a story's flaws. Any disputes on this matter will be handled by a moderator of this section.
9. No pestering the author.
You may not post in the story asking about updates. If you wish to hear about updates, you may ask the author directly, but incessant and unwelcome messages will not be tolerated.
10. No posting in old threads.
If a thread hasn't had any activity in two months, don't post in it. The sole exception to this rule is that an author may update their work at any time.
